CBSE 6th Class Maths

CBSE is Central Board for Secondary Education which was initiated by NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training) for attaining the objectives which are interconnected. Some of the main objectives of CBSE are listed below:
  • To lay down the examination conditions and to conduct examinations on common scale, 
  • To allot certificates of qualification to candidates who are qualified, 
  • To meet educational requirements of students; specially whose parents are employed in transferable jobs, 
  • To lay down the course or curriculum which is to be updated timely, 
  • To raise the educational standards of the country. 

The entire curriculum laid down in CBSE Syllabus in India for every class is laid down in accordance with the ability of an average child who can learn all that stuff without keeping a burden on his shoulders. The more than average students are able to learn more while the weaker students have to practice more to stay in line. But weaker students are also been taken care of while the formation of the CBSE syllabus for various class. For the lower grades basics are been stressed on a lot. If the basics are not strong enough the growth of the child is diminished and he or she cannot do well in further classes. So the syllabus for lower level of classes by CBSE is made in such a way that even weaker students are not having much trouble in learning and grasping the best of knowledge about the contents being included. 

The syllabus of middle classes starts with application knowledge of everything a student is learning from basics to even new things. Everything taught is taken up in application manner as what can it be applied to, how it is applicable, how far things are applicable, if it is even applicable or not and so. But even the application knowledge is of direct approach. CBSE helps by providing with question papers that are similar to the original examination papers. These type of papers help students in preparing for exams in a better way and also in making self evaluation of their preparation and the level of studies of the student in accordance to the standards laid by CBSE. 

These papers are based on the syllabus laid down by CBSE for a particular class and subject. These papers are also helpful in giving us the knowledge about which all topics have more chances to be included, the scoring pattern in exam, the kind of paper set up the student have to face and answer, the pattern that is to be followed in the examination, the most scoring topics, weightage of marks for included topics, the type of questions that might come in the actual exam.

Mathematics is a subject that requires a lot and lot of practice. One should be thorough with his or her concepts well. If the methods are not clear, it will get difficult to solve any question on the basis of it whether it is in CBSE class 6 maths or any other subject. 
We all know that the key to success is only practice and knowledge and practicing on our own is clearly not at all enough in the tough competition that we face today. Thus the students are required to learn and understand things properly and also to practice more and more. This will ensure that they stay ahead in the competition or race of success. 

A student should first practice the topics on his own. Then, once completed he or she should revise the whole of syllabus before starting to attempt any question paper of class 6 CBSE maths. Once the revision is completed, a student may attempt the paper. When the test is done, the answers can be verified by matching the answers with the ones provided by CBSE with every question paper of maths CBSE class 6. This will help the student to know his or her stronger and weaker parts of the subject for which he or she attempted the test. It does not matter that the student has practiced a lot before attempting the question paper but the result of the attempt will tell actually the level of his or her preparation. 

Thus, student is able to practice more the parts in which he or she scored less in. So, by improving the skills in the topic in which the student scored less and required more attention on, he or she can now get good marks in the actual exam. After the successful completion of a paper and then verifying the result, a student will get to know what he or she has learned in actual, how much he or she has understood, what more is needed to be done, what is left and which topics are needed to be practiced more on.
Class 6 CBSE maths contains topics that are basics to contents of higher level maths. If these basic things are not well understood then higher maths will be a trouble as well. CBSE maths class 6 syllabus is constructed in a way that student is able to understand the basics and grab knowledge and perfection over them easily. It just includes a little of attention to be given to it.

Let us see the contents ot topics that are included while making or setting the question papers of CBSE maths class 6, by this we mean, the topics in class 6th maths. The topics with their description in brief are below:
  • Number System: This topic includes: knowing our numbers, place values for big numbers, simplifications, playing with numbers, factorization, HCF, LCM, whole numbers, negative numbers and integers and about fractions.
  • Algebra: The introduction of basic algebra, simple patterns, introduction to variables
  • Ratio and proportions: Introduction to ratios, proportions, unitary method, word problems on the same
  • Geometry: Basics, its link to daily experiences, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, understanding of basic 2D and 3D shapes, symmetries, reflections, constructions
  • Mensuration: Concepts of perimeter and area of different shapes
  • Data Handling: Collection and organization of data, pictographs, bar graphs

First let us discuss in brief about CBSE!

CBSE stands for Central Board of Secondary Education. It was set up by NCERT which means National Council of Educational Research and Training. The major objective of constituting CBSE was to operate a chain of central schools (Kendriya Vidyalaya), for the government employees who are working in transferable jobs that involve even mid – year movements. Many private schools have also been affiliated to CBSE as now – a – days, private sector employees are also moving from place to place for their jobs. The syllabus offered by CBSE is very well structured, organized and highly controlled. Also it is highly predictable. The curriculum is updated and revised timely. This keeps the current content to be in knowledge of the students. Day by day education is spreading and getting vast so the curriculum has to be revised timely so as to cover everything in a systematic way. Also, since things are advancing and the community is rising, the syllabus needs timely updating accordingly to include every aspect in a proper manner. For this, CBSE revise the already set curriculum from time to time. Sometimes it is carried over in a few years and sometimes even yearly. This depends on the happening of events that are affecting the previously laid down content and the topics that are covered or are required to be taken up or to be left out for advancement of education and knowledge of the students. The senior secondary classes of CBSE syllabus are the last stage of CBSE and the learning of basics and understanding them well.
